It’s seven years later and everyone gets what they want. But, getting what you want is never what it’s cracked up to be. Jonathan Bass’ heart is in the right place though as he attempts to help those he loves. He also gives his all to transform the lives of his embattled adolescent patients. Their psychological aliments range from severe low self-esteem and depression to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). But he is surrounded by good people on a daily basis. Skyla lends her support to him professionally and Bree is back to help distress their lives with her colorful, comical, outrageous opinions. New on the scene is Quentin Perkins, Jonathan’s best friend from Princeton. The four of them unite with a passion for the community and the troubled youth residing in it. But there good efforts are not without challenges.

Women from Jonathan’s past appear to cause friction among the group. And Skyla still struggles with her aging biological clock, along with the emotional effects from the miscarriage she suffered years prior. Bree continues her quest to find true love while severing ties with an old love. And Quentin (Que) tries to keep his newly formed business partnership with Jonathan from ruining their friendship.

Keeping sight of the bigger picture, they each manage to navigate around these issues until problems with Jonathan’s patients and his past relationships result in deadly consequences that will affect all involved.

Excerpt:

One afternoon while me and Bree worked across from each other, we heard the front door open and close. Que always came in through the back, so we looked at each other with surprise while going to see who it was. Once we laid eyes on the visitor, we turned to each other, stunned.

“Oh hi, ladies. Why so silent? That’s no way to treat your new co-worker.”

Our mouths hung open as we looked at Cortney’s smug mug.

“We’re grown folks around here. Why don’t you try acting like one and telling us what you’re talking about,” Bree said.

“Who’s your little mouthpiece, Skyla?”

“Oh, my name is Eyewill, as in, I will fuck you up if you keep talking ’bout me like I’m not here!” Bree shouted. I grabbed her arm.

“Come on Bree, we’ve got work to do.” I pulled her to our office, closing the door behind us. I picked up the phone and called Jonathan’s emergency number.

“Why are you calling on this phone?” he snapped.

“Cortney is here. Is there something you want to tell me?” I barked. He paused for a few minutes.

“I’ll go get her. We’ll talk later,” he calmly replied. I slammed the phone down and exhaled hard.

“Calm down, Sky. It’s just not good for you in your condition,” Bree said.
